China’s entertainment industry is experiencing changes with the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. One of the impacts was felt by actor Xu Peng who experienced a lot of job losses. Why is that?
Xu Peng lost his job after his short drama production house switched to using AI technology. Now, it is known that the actor has chosen to support his family by selling vegetables at traditional markets.
Even though his profession has changed drastically, Xu Peng admits that he has accepted this change gracefully.

“Acting is just a job. If there are no roles to take, I will look for other ways to earn a living. As long as I can earn an honest living through hard work, there is no obstacle that I cannot overcome,” said Xu Peng, quoted from the page CNBC Indonesia, recently.
Previously, Xu Peng was known as one of the most popular vertical short drama actors in China. This 30 year old actor often plays the character of a cold and authoritative CEO.
At the peak of his career, Xu Peng had to film for 15 to 16 hours every day to complete his various projects. However, the entertainment industry in China is changing very quickly. AI-based short drama production now dominates the market.
This is based on the HK01 report, in the first quarter of 2026 there will be around 128,000 short dramas released in China. Of this number, around 122,000 titles or more than 95 percent were produced using AI technology. This change put many actors out of work, including Xu Peng.
Even though he rarely shoots, Xu Peng emphasized that he has not completely closed the door as an actor.
“For me, it doesn’t mean parting ways with the entertainment industry. It’s just the stage that’s changed. Even though my profession has changed, I’m still the same person,” he said.
So what is Xu Peng’s daily life like after choosing a new profession as a vegetable seller?

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
