Wamenpora stated, IIE was not only a coach, but also a figure who was very close to her family, even considered a substitute parent.
Losing the figure of IIE Sumirat was very much felt by Taufik. He claimed to have intended to meet IIE during illness, but time did not side. “I have considered he like his own parents,” he said. Taufik recalled the memories of his childhood, who often spent time practicing to sleep at Iie’s house, which is located close to badminton fields.

After retiring from the world of sports, Iie focused as a coach and mentor. Under his care, many talented young athletes from West Java managed to appear, signifying his dedication to print the next generation in badminton.
Taufik Hidayat in his statement hoped that everyone could use the time available optimally, realizing that every athlete had an age limit in a career. “All nothing is eternal,” he said, emphasizing the importance of fighting power for the future of Indonesian badminton.
The departure of Iie Sumirat not only became a loss for Taufik, but also for the entire badminton lovers. His figure will always be remembered as a role model and encouragement for the younger generation. With so many achievements and influences he gave, IIE Sumirat will remain an important part of the history of badminton in Indonesia. Even though they have passed away, their enthusiasm and footsteps will always guide future generations in pursuing achievements in the badminton arena and other sports.
