PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR) has launched the latest innovations that connect television viewers directly to streaming services. This innovation is expected to answer the needs of users who want to enjoy TV content on various platforms, especially when they are moving. BMTR President Director, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, explained that this technology allows users to continue to enjoy TV broadcasts in a more flexible way through mobile devices.
This system, called “Connect TV,” is implemented by displaying QR Code on a television screen. Simply by scanning the code, users can easily switch to streaming services without having to decide on the content being watched. “For example, when I watched a soccer match at RCTI and had to go out, I just had to scan the QR Code, and the content would be immediately continued in our OTT applications,” Hary said in the BMTR General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) in Jakarta, recently.
This technology has been patented in Indonesia and carries a big vision for companies to sell its licenses as a new source of income. “We also plan to patent this concept abroad, because this is an innovation that does not exist anywhere in the world,” Hary said confidently. With this step, Global Mediacom seeks to grow and expand in the international market.
Data shows that the streaming service user segment is increasing rapidly among people who are now more relying on smart phones for entertainment. Hary stated that this trend made the company need to expand the segmentation of the audience. “In the past we were dominant with sports content that was more attractive to men, now we are trying to reach women and children with more diverse programs,” he said.
This change is also a response to the trend of the need for adaptation in the midst of increasingly fierce competition and economic conditions that are not yet fully stable. Global Mediacom predicts that there will be many transformations in 2025 to remain relevant in the changing market. This effort not only answers user needs but also opens new paths for income through streaming services such as RCTI+ and Vision+.
Connect TV innovation is not only limited to providing convenience for the audience, but also marks a big step for the media industry in Indonesia in the face of the digital era. Hary stressed the importance of technology adaptation to maintain competitiveness. With the increasing adoption of smartphones in the community, the shift in the way people consume content becomes more apparent.
With these latest innovations, Global Mediacom hopes to attract more audiences and consolidate its position as one of the main players in the media industry. This development will certainly provide a special attraction for investors and other stakeholders who see the potential for broad growth in streaming services.
In the future, Global Mediacom is committed to continuing to innovate in providing relevant and attractive content for users. Emphasis on technology innovation is also an integral part of their business strategy in the coming years. Through the development of technology that connects television and streaming services, Global Mediacom is trying to ensure that they remain the first choice for spectators in this fast -paced digital era.
